Agua Dulce & Acton

Agua Dulce and Acton are very special places.
Both Agua Dulce and Acton are sleepy little one horse towns nestled at the foot of the Sierra Pelona Mountains. Just a few minutes north of Santa Clarita, they both offer a lifestyle that can’t be beat.  This small town lifestyle is only 15 minutes away from Santa Clarita and all of the services it offers.

Agua Dulce has the best of everything that southern California has to offer. Great climate, peace and quiet, open spaces, horse ranches, homes on acreage, low to no crime, and miles of riding trails.

The zoning is Agricultural, and the average lot size will be between 2.5 to 5 acres. There are only a small amount of housing tracts, the majority of homes are custom built. If you want to have horses, dogs, chickens, goats or alpacas, the zoning allows it. Many people build a big work shop for whatever hobby they are into. The most common reason folks move to Agua Dulce or Acton is for the small town rural lifestyle.

The small town country atmoshere really lets you kick your shoes off and relax. There are no streetlights... just the stars and the moon at night. It is not uncommon to see people riding horses down the street in the Agua Dulce central village as you enjoy lunch or dinner at one of our many places to eat.

Agua Dulce, which means "Sweet Water" in spanish, was first inhabited by the Tatavian indians and the Vasquez rocks were their favorite shelter.  Today, the Vasquez Rocks County Park has been featured as the backdrop for many movies and TV shows. It is open every day for hikers and horse back riders.

Another 10 minutes north of Agua Dulce lies the sleepy little town of Acton. It is considered Agua Dulce's sister town and shares the same llifestyle and school district. Acton started as a mining town in the late 1800's with it's two gold mines: The Red Rover and The Governor.  Acton is also known for it's agriculture: peaches, pears, honey and the most beautiful lilacs anywhere.

Both Acton and Agua Dulce havee their own Fourth of July parades and both have their own Community Standards Districts to protect their rural lifestyles.

Look around you anywhere in Southern California and you will not find a relaxed rural lifestyle within commuting distance of Los Angeles where horses have the right of way.

Agua Dulce and Acton are truly special places to be.
